Dear Dr. {{$doctorName}},

Subject: An multicentric, observational retrospective, cross-sectional survey study to assess the Treatment pattern of Chronic Rhinosinusitis

  • Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is an inflammatory condition of the nasal cavity mucosa and paranasal sinuses with symptoms lasting longer than 12 weeks.1

  • Prevalence of CRS varies from 5 – 12%. Prevalence in India was reported to be around 46%.2,3.

  • Chronic Rhinosinusitis can be divided into primary or secondary chronic rhinosinusitis (with or without nasal polyposis). Polyps are the final stage of hyperplastic growth of the nasal mucosa due to the intense activity of type 2 T-helper lymphocytes (Th2), eosinophils and Immunoglobulin-E (IgE)4

  • Patients often have local symptoms such as nasal congestion and runny nose, decreased sense of smell, facial pain, and head pain as clinical manifestations.

  • The disease usually develops from improper treatment or incomplete treatment of acute sinusitis, and if the treatment of CRS is not timely and standardized, the patient’s condition will be prolonged, unhealed, and recurrent attacks for a long time and it is also easy to induce other clinical complications such as nasal polyps and cranioocular pulmonary infection, which seriously affect the quality of life and safety of patients.5

  • There are multiple modalities of therapy including surgical and medical treatments

  • A variety of drugs including inhalation formulations of corticosteroids, anti-histaminic, mucoregulatory agents etc. are used for medical management.

  • Hence, we designed the current study to assess the treatment pattern in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

  • We invite you to participate in this data collection activity. All you need to do is to report on a standard form your experience in treating CRS in the normal course of your practice. If you agree to participate, you will need to fill data collection forms (which we call DCF).

  • We trust you and we are partners in promoting safe and effective drug therapy. In that spirit we hope you will consent to participate in this survey. If you do, please sign and return the enclosed reply along with your visiting card for accuracy of records.

Yours truly,
