Subject: A multi-centric, retrospective, cross-sectional study to understand the role of combination of lutein, zeaxanthin, vitamins and minerals (I-Site AF capsule) in age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a spectrum of age related changes in macula. It accounts for 8.7% of the total blindness globally, and is the third common cause of visual impairment. It is the primary cause of visual impairment in industrialized counThis retrospective study aims totries. The overall prevalence of AMD in India ranges from 1.4% to 3.1%. There is higher prevalence of early AMD than late AMD (2.3% vs. 0.6%). WHO estimated that 20-25 million people are suffering from AMD, out of which 8 million people have severe visual impairment.
The use of antioxidants, vitamins and zinc in a population with AMD has been demonstrated to reduce the progression towards more advanced stages of AMD.
Hence this study is planned to understand the role of combination of lutein, zeaxanthin, vitamins and minerals (I-Site AF capsule) in Indian patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
