Dear Dr. {{ $doctorName }},

Subject : Glycemic Control and Disease Management Practices in Indian Type 2 Diabetic Patients (GLIDER) – 2

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is due to the progressive loss of β-cell insulin secretion frequently on the background of insulin resistance. Along with exercise and diet oral antidiabetic drugs play a key role in the control of glycemia in diabetic patients. Diabetes with its ever-increasing global prevalence has emerged as one of the most important and challenging health issues confronting the human population of the present world. The increase in the prevalence of diabetes in most regions across the globe has been parallel to the rapid economic development, leading to urbanization and adoption of modern lifestyle habits.

This knowledge drives current clinical practice, in which treatment is directed to the attainment of near-normoglycaemia. Clinical outcomes can be improved in long-term care residents with the development and oversight of protocols and tools to properly manage DM in this population. It has been shown that T2D can be prevented or delayed through lifestyle modification or administration of some pharmacological agents.

The purpose of this survey is to understand the practices in management of diabetes and associated comorbidities and to analyse prescription trends of combination antidiabetic agents in uncontrolled patients of diabetes.

This multicenter survey is planned to understand the perceptions among healthcare practitioners in India with regard to diagnosis and management of diabetes.
