Subject: Survey to assess management practices in HYPERtension and dysLIPidemia among patients at risk of cardiovascular disease (HYPERLIP)
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of illness and death, responsible for about 30% of all deaths worldwide. Coronary artery disease (CAD) happens when fatty deposits build up in the coronary arteries, causing atherosclerosis. When these plaques grow or rupture, they can block the arteries, leading to symptoms like stable angina or serious events such as acute coronary syndrome, which includes STEMI and NSTEMI heart attacks.
Risk factors for CAD are divided into nonmodifiable and modifiable types. Prevention is classified into primary (for people with risk factors but no symptoms), secondary, and tertiary stages. Targeting dyslipidemia, and hypertension using antihypertensive, statins has reduced the incidence of ASCVD. Thus, primordial prevention targeting pathophysiological changes that cause CVD and primary prevention by detecting and managing risk factors remains the foundation for cardiovascular risk management.
This multicenter survey is planned to assess management practices in hypertension and dyslipidemia in high cardiovascular risk patients.
