Subject: A survey among dermatologists to understand usage pattern of face moisturizers in dry sensitive and acne prone skin in India
Almost every person will experience dryness during his or her lifetime. Many people experience occasional episodes, but some have a chronic problem with xerosis that is irritating and troublesome. In people with an atopic diathesis, dry skin can progress to eczema. Moisturizers are the mainstay of treatment for dry skin, daily maintenance of normal skin, and adjunctive therapy for many skin diseases. Dryness or skin irritation may cause barrier disruption of the stratum corneum leading to increased transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and production of inflammation. Thus, some physicians recommend patients use moisturizers as adjunctive treatment of acne, especially when either topical Benzoyl peroxide or retinoid is prescribed. Furthermore, some evidence shows that moisturizers can contribute independently to improve signs and symptoms of acne.
This survey is conducted among dermatologists to understand usage pattern of face moisturizers in dry sensitive and acne prone skin in India.
