Dear Dr. {{ $doctorName }},

Subject: Participation in “Oral Health-market research survey”

Oral health is essential to total health. Despite their high social and economic burdens, oral diseases receive little attention and remain a neglected area of international health.

Periodontal disease is clearly associated with diabetes and compromised immunity. Dental caries is increasingly prevalent in developing countries. According to Indian Oral Health Survey, dental caries prevalence is about 63-80% and periodontal disease prevalence is about 68-90%.

Factors like age, sex, hereditary features, unhealthy diet, smoking, alcohol consumption impact oral health. Sugar intake is the leading risk factor for tooth decay, and its reduction as part of a healthy diet promotes better oral health. A bi-directional relationship exists between oral and systemic health. Oral diseases restrict activities in school, at work and at home causing millions of school and work hours to be lost each year the world over. The psychosocial impact of these diseases often significantly diminishes quality of life.

The role of fluoride in dentistry is pivotal in protecting teeth and preventing dental decay. Goal of oral health education is to improve knowledge, which may lead to adoption of favorable oral health behaviors that contribute to better oral health

Survey Rationale:

The lack of awareness, published clinical data in India makes it uncertain how significantly these issues exist and to what extent oral health diseases are impacting patients in Indian scenario. Through this survey, we are trying to understand clinical scenario about oral health in India
