Dear Dr. {{$doctorName}},

Subject: To understand the usage of Drospirenone COC in PCOS, Endometriosis, Acne, PMS/PMDD, and Oral Contraception in real-life clinical practice

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal condition that affects women of reproductive age. It usually starts during adolescence, but symptoms may fluctuate over time.PCOS can cause hormonal imbalances, irregular periods, excess androgen levels and cysts in the ovaries. Irregular periods, usually with a lack of ovulation, can make it difficult to become pregnant. PCOS is a leading cause of infertility

Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can cause severe pain in the pelvis and make it harder to get pregnant.

People with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) have PMS symptoms (bloating, headaches, and breast tenderness) in the weeks before their period. But PMDD also causes severe anxiety, depression, and mood changes.

Combined oral contraceptives (COCs) have an estrogen and progestin component. Combined oral contraceptives is the most commonly prescribed pill

Drospirenone (DRSP) is a novel synthetic progesterone and is a derivative of spironolactone (aldosterone antagonist). Drospirenone-containing COCs significantly increase SHBG levels, significantly decrease testosterone levels, and significantly improve hirsutism. Drospirenone-containing COCs are effective in treating and alleviating the symptoms of PCOS.
