Dear Dr. {{$doctorName}},

Subject : To understand the usage of Natural Micronised Progesterone (NMP) including oral NMP SR (Sustained Release) formulation in Luteal Phase Defect (LPD)

Luteal phase deficiency (LPD) has been described as a condition in which ovarian hormone progressed is not of a sufficient quantity or temporal duration. LPD has been associated with infertility. In assisted reproductive techniques (ART), progesterone levels are low, so the luteal phase is supported with progesterone to improve implantation and pregnancy rates.

Recurrent pregnancy loss can be defined as three or more clinically recognized consecutive pregnancy losses prior to 20 weeks of gestation from last menstrual period. It affects 1-2 % of women. The prevalence is 7.46% among Indian women.

Progesterone’s physiological role is to prepare the uterus for implantation of the embryo, enhance uterine quiescence and suppress uterine contractions. Progesterone supplementation has been used as a treatment for threatened/ recurrent abortion to prevent spontaneous pregnancy loss.

Medications that mimic the action of progesterone are known as progestogens. Natural micronized progesterone is a natural and bioidentical progesterone.

We have planned a survey to assess the usage of Oral NMP in routine clinical practice.

We trust and we are partners in ensuring safe and effective drug therapy. In that spirit we hope you will consent to participate in this survey.

Yours truly,
