Studies indicate that micronutrients have a strong impact at molecular and cellular level and manifestations of fatigue and reduced immunity may occur when supplies of these micronutrients are inadequate. Moreover, multivitamin and mineral supplements fortified with Ginseng have been scientifically validated to be beneficial in multiple indications, impacting quality of life in both men and women.

Ginseng which is called, the king of all herbs, exerts multiple pharmacological effects, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation, antitumor, antidiabetic effects, and cardiovascular protection. Newer studies have indicated extended benefits of Ginseng in diabetic and ageing population. Studies also indicate benefits in young adults especially females in tackling issues associated with PCOS and PMS.
With more than 74.2 million people living with diabetes in India, multiple dietary supplements have been used to treat diabetes and associated complications. Ginsenoside in Ginseng has shown to enhance glucose uptake by up-regulating the expression of glucose transporters (GLUT) in liver and muscles.
In menopausal women, ginseng exerts hormonal effects similar to those of oestrogen. Ginseng mitigated menopausal stress and decreased tissue-type plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1, thus improving blood circulation. Existing studies showed positive effects of ginseng on alleviating menopausal symptoms and improving quality of life.
Study suggests that specific vitamins (B-12, folate, vitamins D, E, and K), minerals (calcium, zinc, selenium, and chromium), and herbal ingredients like ginseng may be beneficial in PCOS. Hence integration of complementary medicine as adjuncts to traditional lifestyle-based therapies in PCOS is now well-accepted across many HCPs.Possible mechanisms in PCOS, may be related to benefits associated with its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities along with role in maintaining glucose levels and exhibiting estrogen like activity.
Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) cause significant distress or interfere with work, school or usual social activities and lower quality of life. The reported prevalence is ranged from 14.3%to 74.4%. It has been noted that the incidence of PMS is low among women with diets rich in vitamins or minerals. Natural Ginseng has potential to reduce symptoms of insomnia, flushing, perspiration and menstrual pain due to its estrogen like property.
Thus this study aims to understand the HCPs perspective regarding the product claims in above identified indications as an adjunct to improve associated complications and improve Quality of life.
