Subject: To understand the practical aspects related to management of iron overload with Deferasirox among Oncologists
Many hematological conditions like Beta thalassemia, Sickle cell anemia and Low risk MDS require frequent blood transfusions to maintain the normal blood cell count. These blood transfusions can result in excess iron levels in the body which can ultimately lead to organ damage, liver or cardiac issues.
There are different iron chelators available for the management of chronic iron overload and Deferasirox is one of the most commonly used Iron chelators. However, there are some GI complications associated with Deferasirox which can impact the adherence to treatment and alter the treatment outcome. Therefore, a thorough understanding of these complications and their management is the need of the hour. Also, the management of adverse events varies from doctor to doctor.
Hence, we invite you to participate in this survey and share relevant information about the management of chronic iron overload in real world practice in India.
